Civil Engineering Project Manager 
(Newark, DE and Forest Hill, MD)

POSITION DESCRIPTION 

 

Karins and Associates is seeking a Project Manager/Senior Engineer with Land Development experience to provide exceptional value to our clients by transforming ideas into successful projects with superior service and innovative solutions. 

JOB SUMMARY

  • Oversee and manage production of design and secure entitlement permitting for land development projects of varying sizes and types of land use. 

  • Includes the prioritization, scheduling, management, quality assurance and quality control of site plans, record minor and major land development plans, general and individual site grading plans, erosion and sediment control, subdivision streets and commercial entrance plans, profiles and cross-sections of sanitary and storm drainage utility plans, design and inspection of stormwater management systems, specification preparation, and bid document preparation.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a Professional Engineering License

  • 15+ years of experience in site/civil engineering for private, commercial or public clients; with execution of residential and non-residential civil/land development/site design projects in the State of Delaware, Maryland, or Pennsylvania

  • Knowledge and understanding of local land use processes and regulations

  • Ability to manage multiple projects on schedule and under budget

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, public works improvements projects, traffic engineering, sanitary sewer pump stations and municipal engineering is a plus.

  • Must be willing to travel to job sites, to meet clients, and attend company meetings

  • Be involved in professional organizations and other community organizations

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite

Land Surveying Manager

(Newark,DE)

  • Years of Experience- Must have at least 5 years of experience

  • Work Requirements- Should have excellent organizational, multi-tasking, oral and written interpersonal communication and teaching/mentoring skills. Perform field survey work and survey office work required to produce accurate plans depicting as-built conditions, as well as boundary determination.  Responsible for the stakeout setup for field crews and as-built of stormwater management, underground stormwater holding chambers, bio-retention facilities, and dry and wet storage ponds. AutoCAD skills required and Land Survey License is preferred.

 

Land Surveying Party Chief
(Newark,DE and Forest Hill,MD)

  • This position plans, directs, and coordinates activities of survey crews to support a broad range of land surveying and related services for federal, state, and private clients.

  • We are looking for an experienced survey team leader that can provide day-to-day supervision of a survey crew.

  • The Land Surveying Party Chief should possess high integrity and an excellent attention to detail to be able to conduct all work in accordance with highest professional standards and company policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Perform boundary and topographic surveys, construction stake-outs, and details for public works projects, land development projects, residential subdivisions and other construction services projects

  • Must have at least 5 years of experience, High School Diploma required

  • Must have a valid driver's license

Professional Land Surveyor

(Newark,DE)

  • Prepare the stakeout setup for field crews and as-built of stormwater management, underground stormwater holding chambers, bio-retention facilities, and dry and wet storage ponds

  • Experience in overseeing and directing survey crews and technicians and providing all aspects of surveying and types of surveys

  • Must have at least 5 years of experience

  • PLS license in DE preferred

  • AutoCAD skills required

  • Must have a valid driver's license

AutoCAD Survey Technician/Draftsman

(Forest Hill,MD)

  • Prepare/Draft survey plans from field crew data collector files (points), field sketches, digital photographs, and reference maps

  • Generate surfaces using 3D polylines & points

  • Coordinate project requirements with team members and helps to complete required tasks when necessary (i.e. deeds, utility information, FEMA flood plain, Township codes, etc.) 

  • Prepare various land survey drafts for various clients

  • The candidate should also possess the ability to review field work and coordinate with field staff as needed.

  • Karins and Associates is specifically looking for an experienced field surveyor looking to move into an office position, or an experienced CAD technician with previous field surveying experience.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) preferred

  • Survey and AutoCAD, 2+ years of experience

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D with 1-2 years’ experience and CAD concepts

  • Basic knowledge in: Computers, MS Word and Excel Software, geometry and math, and basic drafting skills.

  • Ability to read, interpret and draft plans, profiles, cross sections and details

  • Ability to meet project deadlines within given budget limits and time frames

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task assigned projects, and work with minimal supervision

  • Strong technical background

  • Ability to interact well with coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • High School Diploma required

 

PREFERRED JOB SKILLS

  • Deed plotting experience

  • Knowledge of field survey operations, engineering, and construction industry

  • Understanding of survey calculations

  • Experience with working with robotic instruments and GPS
